During my time as a math tutor for grades K-College, I’ve been able to help students of all ability levels reach their educational goals. I take a unique, student-centered approach to math tutoring that helps students build confidence, understanding, and even love for math!
I take a student centered approach to tutoring by focusing and teaching to the weak points and gaps in a student's math knowledge. This way, I am able to identify where the student needs the most assistance so that I can best help them build confidence and math understanding.
I’d like to share a wonderful success story about an 8th grade student who also happened to be named Jack. Jack has Dysgraphia, which means he has trouble writing. Due to this, Jack had unfortunately been cast aside by the math department in his school. They had told his parents he would never be able to achieve more than an elementary level of math understanding due to his condition. However, after I started working with Jack online, he was able to communicate his ideas using the computer and he and I discovered he actually has a real talent for math! After about a year and a half of tutoring with me, Jack was able to take AP Calculus AB has a sophomore in High School, and now wishes to pursue math in secondary education!
I love anything computer related! That includes building gaming computers, playing around with different operating systems and writing my own programs. I also love playing single-player video games. I also have a vegetable garden and like lifting weights in my free time.
